फिर हरी खुद ही घर से निकला और मिठाई की दूकान के सामने पहुँच गया। वह वहां खड़ा हो कर सोचने लगा की बिना पैसे के मिठाई कैसे खायी जाए। कुछ देर बाद उसने देखा की हलवाई दुकान अपने छोटे बेटे को सँभालने दे कर खुद सोने जा रहा है। यह देख कर हरी के दिमाग में एक तरकीब आयी। वह दूकान पर पहुंचा और मिठाई मांगने लगा। इस पर हलवाई के बेटे ने हरी से पैसे मांगे। हरी ने कहा की उसे मिठाई खाने के लिए पैसे देने की ज़रुरत नहीं है। हलवाई के बेटे को हरी की बात का यकीन न आया। हरी ने हलवाई के बेटे से कहा की की वह जाए और अपने पिताजी को बता आये की दुकान पर मिठाई खाने हरी आया है फिर देखते हैं वह क्या कहते हैं। हलवाई के बेटे ने ऐसा ही किया। हलवाई यह सुन कर भड़क गया की उसका बेटा उसे मक्खी के दूकान पर आने जैसी छोटी बात के लिए जगाने आ गया। उसने अपने बेटे को वहां डांट के भगा दिया। हलवाई के बेटे ने फिर हरी से कुछ न कहा। हरी ने मनपसंद मिठाई खायी और वहां से खिसक लिया।
एक बार सूरज, पवन और चन्द्रमा अपने चाचा-चाची बिजली और तूफ़ान के घर दावत खाने गए थे। उनकी माँ, जो दूर सितारों में से एक थी , अपने बच्चों का वापस आने का इंतज़ार कर रही थी। दावत में, तरह तरह के पकवान थे। सूरज और पवन ने जम के दावत के मज़े उड़ाए। पर चन्द्रमा को अपनी अकेली माँ का ध्यान था इसलिए उसने खाने के साथ साथ थोड़े से पकवान माँ के लिए भी रख लिए।
हिरनी गीदड़ के पीछे दौड़ने लगी। गीदड़ अपने प्राण लेकर वहां से रफूचक्कर हो गया।
